Power Rangers Prime trailer and preview show first look at Bold New Era

BOOM! Studios will usher in a bold new era of Power Rangers comics with the upcoming Power Rangers Prime, and now we have our first look at the series with a full trailer and preview of Power Rangers Prime #1. Power Rangers Darkest Hour writer Melissa Flores has teamed up with artist Michael YG (Iron Fist), colorist Fabi Marques and writer Ed Dukeshire for a new chapter in the Power Rangers saga that’s also the perfect starting point for new if Longtime fans will also see some of their favorites in the mix. You can watch the full trailer in the video above and take a look at what this new era has in store in the preview below.

A new world

As you can see in the preview, the first character we meet is Mark Zhao, who is taking out the trash when he spots someone hiding in the dumpster. This person appears to be one Lauren Shiba from Power Rangers Samurai, but she is feeling pretty bad and asks for help, and Mark closes the door as some soldiers approach. After getting them to leave, two main questions need to be answered: who this person is and how you can help them without getting caught.

We then go to Angel Grove University to a classroom where Mark is asked a question about his experiences as a refugee on Earth. We get a glimpse of this journey, but Professor Barall doesn’t force him to continue. Barall, who is Eltarian, instead goes to another Eltarian student named Jun and asks him how he came to Earth. Jun reveals that he was born here and then goes into how the Eltarians first came into contact with Earth and humanity.

They first met 70 years ago after Gamma VII’s Beast Brigade invaded Earth, which also marked humanity’s first contact with alien life forms. As self-appointed protectors of the known universe, the Eltarians stepped in and helped Earth repel the invasion, and this new alliance benefited Earth with technologies and advances that would have taken centuries to achieve alone. At least that’s the story we get from this angle, so it’ll be interesting to see if it holds up to further scrutiny as the series progresses.
