‘Queer’ alert: Daniel Craig’s new film has gay Twitter in a frenzy

Hold on to your popcorn, people! Luca Guadagnino’s Queer turns your local arthouse cinema into the hottest place in town. This cheeky little film starring Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey and Omar Apollo doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s already causing more excitement than a glitter explosion at a Pride parade.

Fresh from the festival grounds, “Queer” received an eleven-minute standing ovation in Venice. That’s longer than most people’s cardio exercises! But it’s not just the critics who are hot and bothered. Some steamy scenes from the film have been leaking faster than your grandmother’s secret cookie recipe, and Gay Twitter™ is having a field day.

Now we can’t show you the goods (pesky copyright laws!), but word on the street is that Craig and Starkey are getting closer in a way that would make James Bond blush. Let’s just say there is an “investigation” underway, and not of the MI6 type.

Based on the semi-autobiographical novel by William S. Burroughs, Queer follows Bill Lee (Craig), a junkie expat in Mexico City with a penchant for hard drugs and even harder abs. His main problem? Eugene Allerton (Starkey), a Navy boy who was so dreamy that he could get sailors to change course. And don’t forget Omar Apollo, who will play another of Craig’s lovers. Talk about a spicy throuple!

While we don’t have an official release date yet, rest assured we’re as committed to this story as Craig is to Starkey. Hang in there, stay queer, and maybe practice your own standing ovation. You know, just in case.
