The first Amarillo International Film Festival takes place this weekend

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – The inaugural Amarillo International Film Festival (AiFF) takes place today and tomorrow at Arts in the Sunset.

Local community members and filmmakers from outside Texas come together to showcase their films.

According to organizers, there were over 70 entries, including local and student films.

“The talent is huge and we are really impressed with the local talent. Six of the films people will see this weekend are from the Amarillo area and I think you’ll be blown away. Some of the best work is student films. Who would do that?” “I’ve thought about it,” said Sherman Bass, festival director and film commissioner.

According to employees, the preparation for AiFF took about two years.

“When you do something for the first time you’re not quite sure how it’s going to turn out, and the fact that we have films entered from seven countries really makes it an international film festival,” said Kate McSwain, president of the Amarillo Film Society.

You can purchase tickets and the schedule on the AiFF website.

Feature films and short films are shown.

Refreshments and popcorn will be available for purchase at the event.
