YouTube Bug Blocks Users and Removes Channels: Google’s Video Streaming Service Says It Knows About It – Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG), Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL)

YouTubea subsidiary of Alphabet Inc.s GOOG GOOGL Google has incorrectly blocked accounts and removed channels worldwide. Now the platform is working to reintroduce it.

What happened: On Thursday, YouTube said it was aware of accidentally removed channels and suspended accounts due to policy violations.

The platform is “actively working to restore the channels” and restore access to paid services YouTube TV, YouTube PremiumAnd YouTube Music subscriptions.

Users affected by this error have lost access to their YouTube accounts, preventing them from watching videos or listening to YouTube music. YouTube Premium subscribers are also affected, as playlists and other saved content are currently inaccessible to some.

Users around the world, including the US, Europe and Asia, were notified of the account suspension or channel removal via email from YouTube.

YouTube has an appeals process in place for affected users, and multiple reports suggest it has been successful in restoring account access. However, some users have reported that their playlists are still missing after restoration.

Why it matters: This glitch follows a series of controversial decisions by YouTube.

Last month, YouTube introduced “Pause Ads,” a feature that shows ads even when a video is paused, causing user dissatisfaction.

Later that month, YouTube also restricted access to songs from renowned artists like Adele, Bob DylanAnd Green day in the USA due to a legal dispute with the performance rights organization, SESAC.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Apple Inc. REMOVED Junoan unofficial YouTube app for VisionProfrom the App Store after a warning from Google.
