Jennifer Aniston remembers working with Kris Kristofferson: ‘He broke our hearts’

Jennifer Aniston is reflecting on her time with the late Kris Kristofferson, days after the beloved country singer, songwriter and actor died at age 88.

During Aniston’s appearance on Wednesday, October 2nd, on Jimmy Kimmel Live!The morning show The star recalled that she recruited Kristofferson to co-star with Robin Wright in 2006 Room 10Aniston’s first short film as a director.

“I was actually lucky enough to direct my first short film and when we asked him he surprisingly said yes, him and Robin Wright, and it was one of the most extraordinary experiences I’ve ever had,” she told Host Jimmy Kimmel. As Aniston recalled, in the film Kristofferson portrayed a man who visits his dying wife in a hospital in the last days of her life.

“He broke our hearts, he was extraordinary,” Aniston said. She also noted that Kristofferson later portrayed her on-screen father in the 2009 romantic comedy He’s just not that into you.

“He came to my 40th birthday party, his wife and he flew in,” she added. “He [was] a lovely man. It is a great loss.”

Kristofferson rose to fame as a singer-songwriter in the 1970s. All this time he appeared in films like Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid (1973) and Alice doesn’t live here anymore (1974) before his big breakthrough in the 1976 remake of A star is bornwhich starred Barbra Streisand. He also recorded three albums with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson as The Highhwaymen in the 1980s and 1990s.

During Aniston’s Jimmy Kimmel Live She also recalled that when she hired Kristofferson to star in her 2006 short film, she and Kristofferson were equally impressed with each other because he had grown into an actor Friends Fan.

“When we made the call, his wife had mentioned that they had just been binge-watching Friends” she said. “They were making a movie in a foreign country and I was so excited to meet him and he had been watching Friends and we had this moment. It was enchanting.

A representative for Kristofferson said he died “peacefully” at his home on Maui surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 28. “We are all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him for all these many years.” “And when you see a rainbow, you know he’s smiling down on all of us,” his family said in a statement.
