Melania Trump on why the 2024 election is different

Former first lady Melania Trump said the 2024 presidential election will be different from previous elections because the country is much more divided.

“We’re dealing with much greater dangers,” she said on “Hannity” Wednesday. “And most importantly, we see what is going on in the world and what threats we face. And my husband, what he’s been through in the last few months,” Melania Trump continued, referring to two attempts on former President Trump’s life.

Suspected assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks fired several shots at the Republican presidential candidate during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July before being shot by a sniper.

A few months later, Ryan Wesley Routha 58-year-old from Hawaii, was spotted by a secret agent allegedly holding a rifle sticking out of the tree line near Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach. Since then, he has been accused of, among other things, the attempted murder of a presidential candidate.

Melania Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity that people need to learn to listen to each other and respect differences of opinion again.

“I think we have to – we have different perspectives, we have different beliefs. We must respect our freedom of expression and our individuality. I think it’s very important that ideas are heard, that we have very, very direct communication and we share the idea with the debate,” said the former first lady.

“Because I think that’s how we could innovate and succeed in this country. I think it’s a worrying business in this country that we fire people who don’t agree on certain issues.”

Melania Trump admitted that the election cycle is a long process, especially in the weeks and days leading up to November, but she is “in it” and trying to “enjoy” it as much as possible.

“You have to be very focused and push yourself day by day. There are surprises too, so it is very important to prepare for those surprises,” she said, adding that it is her calmness that gets her through election day itself.

“Maybe that’s my personality. And because I know that on election day everything is in the hands of the people. The people decide what they want for this country, and that will be on November 5th this year too.”
