The candidates clash during the debate in the US Senate in North Dakota

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kevin Cramer of North Dakota and Democratic candidate Katrina Christiansen debated on Wednesday, October 2nd at Prairie Public Media.

Cramer and Christiansen disagreed on almost every issue discussed tonight, starting with a failed immigration bill.

“Border patrols to deal with the immigration crisis would have installed fentanyl detectors at our border to detect drugs,” Christiansen said. Cramer then responded, “The bill that she wants to vote for and that she wants to support and that she criticizes me against actually provided an incentive for more cities to become sanctuary cities.”

Another issue the two candidates disagreed on was abortion. “I support that women should have access to the health care they need, when they need it,” Christiansen said. Cramer then said, “I’m pro-life, but a solutions-focused pro-life Republican.”

Both candidates were asked after the debate how they thought they performed. “It was fine, I mean we disagree on a lot of things and that was pretty clear. I don’t think she had many facts and happy conversations. I honor that and respect that,” Cramer said.

“I think it went really well. I think North Dakotans have a choice between sending someone who has experience solving problems or sending someone who really has problems,” Christiansen said.

There are only 34 days until Election Day, November 5th.
