Update 12:30 p.m.: Jessica Barnes’ husband and her two roommates have been charged in her death, according to arrest warrants. Brandon Barnes is charged with murder. Kendall Mims and Victoria Tippett are charged with accessory after the fact, obstruction of justice and failure to report a crime. According to the warrants, Brandon Barnes strangled Jessica Barnes and Mims and Tippett helped dispose of the body. Update at 12 p.m.: Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore has confirmed that Jessica Barnes has been found dead. On Wednesday afternoon he sent out the following press release: “Greg Shore, the Medical Examiner, announced that his office is now investigating a woman who has been missing since August and whose body was discovered in Pickens County, South Carolina.” Shore initially said that the investigation was conducted by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office, where the body was discovered. Last night the investigation took a turn and revealed that the victim was apparently killed in Pendleton, South Carolina. Investigators from the Anderson County Office of the Coroner have now been assigned to the case. “He identified the victim as Jessica Barnes.” The victim was reported missing on September 10, 2024 by her mother and stated she had not been seen since August 1, 2024. Pendleton Police Department and SLED investigators were searching on Friday, September 20, 2024, to Barnes and located her remains in a wooded area in Pickens County. The case was initially handled by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and forensic testing was conducted by the Clemson Anthropology Department. A forensic dentist confirmed that the remains found were indeed Jessica Barnes. “An autopsy was performed by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and the cause of death was determined to be asphyxia due to strangulation. The manner of death was ruled murder.” The investigation is currently underway by the Pendleton Police Department, SLED, the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and the Anderson County Office of the Coroner. “Original story: Authorities are expected to release updated information on Wednesday in the case of Jessica Barnes, who was last seen in early August at her home in Pendleton, South Carolina. He identified the victim as Jessica Barnes.

“The victim was reported missing on September 10, 2024 by her mother and stated that she had not been seen since August 1, 2024. Pendleton Police Department and SLED investigators searched for Barnes and located her remains in a wooded area in Pickens County on Friday, September 20, 2024. The case was initially handled by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and forensic testing was conducted by the Anthropology Division by Clemson and a forensic odontologist who confirmed that the remains found were indeed Jessica Barnes.

“An autopsy was performed by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and the cause of death was determined to be asphyxia by strangulation, with the manner of death ruled a homicide.”

“The investigation is continuing by the Pendleton Police Department, SLED, the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.”

Authorities are expected to release updated information on Wednesday in the case of Jessica Barnes, who was last seen in early August at her home in Pendleton, South Carolina.
