AFL trade period: Free agent Jack Martin will join the Geelong Cats, leaving the Fremantle Dockers

Jack Martin has reportedly opted for Geelong despite interest from Fremantle after being delisted by Carlton late last month.

Martin, 29, was reportedly offered a two-year contract with the Dockers but has opted for the Cats to extend his career, according to Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary.

This came after he was released by the Blues after 54 games in five seasons with the Blues following his move from Gold Coast at the end of 2019.

Martin struggled with injuries in 2024 and only played three games, the last of which came against Hawthorn in Round 22.

As a Claremont product, there was a chance Martin could return to play for the Dockers, who are looking to strengthen their forward line, with Richmond’s Shai Bolton their main target.
