Asheville Regional Airport could resume flights Monday | News

Flights from Asheville Regional Airport are expected to resume Monday morning, while arrival flights could resume Sunday evening, airport officials announced on social media.

In two posts on its Facebook page, airport officials said staff were on site around the clock to resume operations as quickly as possible.

According to the airport’s latest update, Delta and United plan to resume flight operations on Monday. American hopes to resume incoming/arriving flights Sunday evening, airport officials said.

“Please remember that flight status can change at any time,” said a press release on Facebook at 4:10 p.m. “Stay in close contact with your airline to check the status of your flight before coming to the airport.”

Airport officials reminded travelers that ground transportation providers — taxis, Ubers, Lyfts and others — are suffering from the same fuel shortages. “If possible, plan to pick up your arriving friends and family,” officials said.

Due to the internet outage in the area, rental cars are not available. Some pre-booked through rental car companies’ apps may be available. Rental cars can be returned at the airport.

“The AVL team on site worked around the clock. They have been sleeping at the airport, not seeing their families, and are working to keep the airfield open for operational flights. We are so proud of each and every one of them,” the late release notes say. “Relief flights, including those from the National Guard, are arriving and our team is helping coordinate these efforts.”
