The ABC 123 daycare center abruptly closed

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – ABC-123 abruptly closed overnight. The parents had received a text message saying that the facility was not open.

“From what we have been told, they cannot reopen. And I think that’s the best result. I mean, it’s terrible that every time a parent has really spoken up and stood up for their child, Nicole has just canceled them,” said Andrew, a parent.

Andrew’s three-year-old son attended the daycare for about three months before the incident occurred.

“Nicole had explained that he got out of the gate and fled from her… we were told he made it to the highway. We never saw any video or anything like that, but we were told he made it to the highway… we contacted the police,” Andrew said.

As of September 2020, the Minnesota Dept. of Human Services found several violations, including failure to supervise children, a staff member striking a child for not wearing a seatbelt, and staff failing to ensure infants were safely positioned during nap time.

“But we noticed…a few…behavior issues after he left daycare. So when he goes to school there are no problems. When he goes to daycare, you know he’s somehow… different. I’m just saying that because he wasn’t really behaving before the biting and stuff happened,” Andrew said.

DHS states that the closure is not the result of a licensing action and that license holders may close their license for a variety of reasons.

We visited the daycare to give them an opportunity to respond to the allegations and discuss the closure, but the owner, Nicole Flick, declined to comment.

Dilworth Police say that while the daycare has been investigated in the past, there is currently no active investigation underway.
