Disney originally canceled Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2013 after five successful seasons for one simple reason: they wanted to take a new direction for animated programming. It was obvious that the giant studio wanted to immediately get their profits after investing in the Lucasfilm franchise, and at the time it wasn’t ideal that they were producing episodes for Cartoon Network, a competitor.

Fans loved the series and thanks to their continued support, Lucasfilm was able to renew it for another season. Previously, they were able to release the finished episodes on Netflix under the title The lost missions in 2014. In 2018, the series revival was announced at San Diego Comic-Con.

In his interview with The Star Wars showDave Filoni, Lucasfilm’s chief creative officer, said he did his best to prevent the news from leaking. “It was a struggle, I have to tell you“, he explained. “I still didn’t think anyone believed it would happen, and that made it easier to keep it a secret.”

The Clone Wars has become a part of people’s childhoods, and the reason many stuck with it is because they loved the stories they grew up with. Old and young generations of fans can explore the old characters while getting to know new ones.
