Oldest presidents in US history, including Biden, Trump and Reagan

As Election Day approaches on Tuesday, November 5, former President Donald Trump, at 78, is the oldest presidential candidate in U.S. history. Should he win the race against Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump would be the oldest American president ever inaugurated in January 2025 – an inspiring look back at the oldest sitting presidents in US history.

While the Constitution says presidents must be at least 35 years old, the average age of U.S. presidents on their first inauguration day is 55, according to the Pew Research Center. Many enter the land’s highest office with a military, judicial or government background – and for the oldest presidents to date, with additional life experience.

Here are the 10 oldest people sworn in as president of the United States, including several current incumbents.
