Unearthed NFL rule answers question about Eagles and Haason Reddick reuniting

Every NFL team has played at least four games in its 17-game season. We still don’t know what Haason Reddick looks like in legacy green. That’s because the former Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher hasn’t tried on New York’s jersey yet.

Yes, he took the selfie that players take when they sign their new contracts. He just smiled. We have since learned that it was a mask. Haason never had any intention of playing for the Jets unless a new contract extension was worked out.

Meanwhile, the Birds’ excitement over Reddick’s replacement, Bryce Huff, has faded. In four games, he played 113 snaps and had two tackles.

Zero sacks… Three pressures… That’s it. Nolan Smith was no better. Jalyx Hunt played just five snaps in a suddenly anemic Eagles pass rush.

So, as you can imagine, there were discussions about a possible swap. This can be fixed. That’s what people say. All that needs to be done is for both Reddick and Huff to return to their original teams.

Hold your horses.

So we did some digging. As it turns out, Haason Reddick can’t return to Philly. League rules prohibit teams from trading players and attempting to acquire them back through trades until at least two years have passed.

So there we have it. Reddick is gone and he probably won’t be back unless his contract expires and he becomes a free agent. If Philly wants to solve their pass rush problems (or lack thereof), they need to find another option. All roads to a possible reunion with Reddick lead to a dead end.
