Pamela Anderson’s film The Last Showgirl is sold to Sony Pictures

EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has acquired Latin America, France, Scandinavia and a number of other international territories as part of Gia Coppola The Last Showgirlwith Pamela Anderson.

Greece, Portugal, Turkey, Israel, Eastern Europe (excluding Poland), all of Asia and Africa are also included in the SPWA deal.

Set amidst the glittering world of Las Vegas entertainment, the Toronto Film Festival debut is told through the eyes of Shelley (Anderson), a glamorous showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly ends after 30 years.

Picture with Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything everywhere at once) as Shelley’s best friend, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Brenda Song (Love), Kiernan Shipka (Leggy) and Billie Lourd (Bookseller).

The ensemble cast won the Special Jury Prize at the San Sebastian Film Festival last weekend. Roadside Attractions owns North American rights and plans an awards season release.

Goodfellas’ Eva Diederix and Utopia’s Marie Zeniter brokered the deal with Sony. We have previously announced additional deals including the UK, Germany, Spain and Italy.

The film features a new original song So beautifulsung by Miley Cyrus, produced by Andrew Wyatt (Barbie) and written by Cyrus, Wyatt and Lykke Zachrisson.

The screenplay is by Kate Gersten (The good place). Producers are filmmaker and Utopia co-founder Robert Schwartzman (The good half) and Natalie Farrey (Her).

Executive producers are Dani Koenigsberg, Nick Darmestaedter, Kate Gersten, Brandon Lee, Michael Clofine for DI Entertainment, Jessamine Burgum and Kara Durrett for Pinky Promise, Alex Orlovsky, Duncan Montgomery and Jack Selby for High Frequency Entertainment, and Robina Riccitiello and Josh Peters for Spark -Functions.
