Bills OC Joe Brady: “Pretty bad play calling” cost us the game

One of the biggest moments in the Ravens’ 35-10 win over the Bills on Sunday night came in the third quarter when the Bills attempted a punt in which wide receiver Curtis Samuel took a snap and turned the ball over to quarterback Josh Allen after Allen was on Receivers lined up.

Allen tried to throw the ball but was hit and lost a fumble. The Bills, trailing 21-10 at the time, never threatened again and head coach Sean McDermott said after the game that he was sure offensive coordinator Joe Brady wanted that recall.

Brady spoke to reporters on Monday and said the same thing. Brady said the offense was “kind of in flux” and it wasn’t a “good time” to try something from his bag of tricks.

“It was a pretty bad play call” Brady said via Sal Maiorana of the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. “There’s no other way to sum it up. Ultimately it cost us a football game.”

The game didn’t go well, but it’s hard to quantify a one-sided loss on a single play. However, it is likely that the Bills will make a closer decision in the near future.
