Former Steelers QB leads convincing win in debut with new team

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph made his debut with the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins. After starting quarterback Will Levis suffered a shoulder injury that forced him out of the game, Rudolph stepped in and managed the offense to a 31-point outing. While he only threw for 85 yards and the Titans’ ground game did most of the work, Rudolph took care of the football and ran the game.

Rudolph signed a one-year deal with the Titans this offseason and decided to leave the Steelers after leading the team to a 3-0 record and a playoff berth in 2023. The Steelers drafted Rudolph in the 2018 NFL Draft. A third-round pick, Rudolph sat behind Ben Roethlisberger for most of his time with the Steelers, but was given a chance to show what he could do in 2019 when Roethlisberger suffered a season-ending elbow injury.

After a disappointing 2019, he fought his way back into the Steelers’ starting spot and was given a second life in the NFL. Now, the teams he started for are 4-0 in his last four regular-season starts and have averaged 28 points per game.

At the very least, Rudolph has proven to be a capable backup in the NFL, and he could get a chance to play more forward in front of Levis, who was chaotic and is now injured.
