Netflix is ​​quietly adding award-winning BBC series – and they’re already climbing the charts

Netflix has quietly added an award-winning BBC show to its lineup – and it’s rocketing up the charts just days after its release.

“Capital” with Toby Jones, the iconic “Mr. Starring Bates vs. The Post Office, is now available on the massive platform and has quickly broken into the top 10 most-watched shows in the UK.

The 2015 drama tells the story of the residents of Pepys Road in London, who are devastated by gentrification and each eventually receives a letter with a mysterious phrase.

Every house on the famous London street receives an identical, enigmatic postcard slipped into the letterbox that simply says: “WE WANT WHAT YOU HAVE.”

Residents include banker Roger Yount (played by Toby Jones), who has recently moved to the area, as well as people who lived on the streets before the property price boom, such as elderly widow Petunia Howe (played by Gemma Jones), the moved there shortly after I got married.

They soon realize they are being recorded and a twisted investigation into the matter begins.

The miniseries features a brilliant cast including BBC star Rachel Stirling, Fool Me Once’s Adeel Akhtar, Emily actress Gemma Jones, Roadkill star Danny Ashok, Red Eye’s Lesley Sharp and theater sensation Mona Goodwin.

In 2016, it won Best TV Movie/Miniseries at the Emmy Awards.

At the time of the series’ release, Toby said: “Roger is not an evil banker, he is a slightly smug banker.” He has become accustomed to a certain way of life and is under self-imposed pressure to live that way.

“He spends a lot of money on things that others don’t spend money on – home furnishings, for example – but that’s normal for him and his wife.” He doesn’t have full control over his life or his work.

“What really attracted me to the role was that on one level he was a very educated, functioning human being who played by the rules and made a lot of money; But on another level, something is happening inside him that he cannot articulate.

“Something shifts and changes in him, and what happens to him in the story makes him realize that his life is not everything it could be.” It is a creeping dissatisfaction, a creeping feeling of loss and disorientation. He has no way of expressing it or understanding it himself. He is not self-reflective in this respect and lives with someone who also appears to be completely non-self-reflective.”

The news comes as the streamer announced some exciting new releases and recently got fans hyped up with a sneak peek at the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.

Lead actor Cillian Murphy, 48, slipped into his iconic Tommy Shelby costume for the occasion and posted a snap on Netflix’s official X account.

The Oscar winner played the gangster in the multi-award winning BBC series from 2013 to 2022 and is now back for a big screen appearance alongside new cast members Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth.

Vehicles were seen arriving at the undisclosed location equipped with tight security to ensure that only government personnel could enter the set.

Alongside a snap of his character, Cillian posed with series creator Steven Knight as they relaxed on set.

The caption read: “By order of the Peaky Blinders…Tommy Shelby is back.”

Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight are reunited on set as production officially begins on the upcoming Netflix film.

Little is known about the plot, but Knight returns as a writer alongside Tom Harper, who directed the show’s first series episodes.

Last month it was announced that Salburn star Barry had joined the cast, but Details about his character have not yet been revealed.
