When will the VP debate take place in 2024? Where to watch the duel between Tim Walz and JD Vance

With just weeks until the presidential election, the vice presidential candidates will debate each other in their first and only scheduled debate.

Senator JD Vance of Ohio and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz take a break from the campaign trail and head to the debate stage at the CBS Broadcast Center on Tuesday, October 1, in New York City.

The debate comes three weeks after Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump first met to discuss issues in their presidential debate on Tuesday, September 10, in Philadelphia.

When will the 2024 VP debate take place?

The debate begins on Tuesday, October 1st at 7:00 p.m. MT/8:00 p.m. CT.

The running time is set at 90 minutes.

Who will moderate the vice president debate?

“CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell and “Face the Nation” anchor Margaret Brennan will moderate Tuesday’s debate.

How can you watch the vice presidential debate?

CBS will air debate coverage on its CBS stations and affiliates. The debate will also be streamed on the CBS News app, Paramount+, CBSNews.com and YouTube.

What are the rules for the debate?

Unlike the presidential debate, the microphones will not be muted when the opponent speaks, but CBS News reserves the right to turn off the microphones.

Campaign staff are not permitted to interact with candidates during breaks.

There won’t be an audience either.
