This is how you watch the only duel between Tim Walz and JD Vance

Just three weeks after Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump faced off in the presidential debate, their running mate Tim Walz and JD Vance are enjoying a rare moment in the spotlight.

Minnesota Governor Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, debates Ohio Senator Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate, in New York City on Tuesday, October 1. This is likely to be their only duel before the election on November 5th.

The two politicians joined in the midst of an already tumultuous election, as Vance, 40, was chosen as Trump’s running mate on July 15, just days after the former president was injured in an assassination attempt.

Walz, 60, was placed on the ballot Aug. 6 as Harris’ last-minute candidate to run after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed his running mate.

Walz and Vance have been tasked with reaching out to working-class voters in the blue wall states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin in the 2024 election. Several other states — including North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada — will also help determine which party wins the White House in January.

Here’s what you need to know about CBS News’ Oct. 1 vice presidential debate between Walz and Vance.
