A Snapchat post from the NFA soccer game and a shooting threat led to the evacuation of the game and the arrest of a teenager.

A student was arrested for threatening a shooting at Norwich Free Academy’s varsity football game Friday night.

On Friday at approximately 8:50 p.m., the Norwich Police Dispatch Center received a call from the FBI National Threat Operations Section Exigent Threat Research and Analysis Crisis Team regarding an active threat at Norwich Free Academy. The agent stated that he discovered a Snapchat post with a picture of the stands at the football game that contained an active threat of a shooting.

Several officers were assigned to a security detail during the football game and immediately informed of the threat. A large-scale response from other Norwich patrol officers ensued and a coordinated effort began to evacuate students and spectators from the sporting event.
