Epic is suing Google and Samsung for making Fortnite too difficult to download

Some users may know that Epic Games, the developer of Fortnitehas had its own app store for some time now, the . The company also took action against Google last December, finding that Google had an illegal monopoly on app distribution and in-app billing services for Android devices. Despite this victory, Epic’s court battle appears to have only just begun. Epic Games is now suing Google again, but also names Samsung as a defendant in the lawsuit. This time, Samsung’s auto-blocking feature is in its sights.

In the latest lawsuit, Epic Games claims that Samsung is making it difficult for users to install the Epic Games Store on the latest Samsung devices. This is because Samsung now enables the automatic blocker, which by default only allows app installations from the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store and prevents the installation of third-party apps unless you disable the feature. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney even suggests that Google and Samsung are working together, although he admits there is no concrete evidence to support this claim.

The edge1999’s Sean Hollister discovered this and discovered that while his Samsung smartphone was preventing him from installing the Epic Games Store, it wasn’t that simple. In addition to winning against Google and legally proving that Google had a monopoly on Android app sharing, Epic Games also won a . Apple had refused to allow Epic Games to launch its App Store on iOS devices, but the EU forced Apple to do so. However, Apple continues to resist, claiming that acceptance is only temporary.

How Google and Samsung will respond remains to be seen, but it is possible that both companies will resist and claim that they are not making the Epic Games Store difficult to install. Again, we will likely wait for the legal system to sort things out.
