There was another airstrike in the Bekaa Valley east of Beirut. We heard it while filming in a pediatric intensive care unit, where young children injured in Israeli attacks are treated.

We heard the sound of the plane flying overhead, then the power went out, followed by an explosion that rattled the windows.

Lying in bed was a six-year-old girl named Noor who knew nothing about the recent attack. She was unconscious and her head was heavily bandaged. Her mother, Rima, sat at her bedside, holding a copy of the Koran and praying.

She told us that Noor was injured on her own doorstep on Monday by an Israeli attack nearby. She showed us a video of Noor praying just before the attack because she was scared.

“She is very bright and outgoing,” she says. “Everyone loves them. Now their fate is in God’s hands.”

The hospital’s medical director, Dr. Bassel Abdallah, tells us that Noor’s condition is critical. Her skull is fractured and she suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Her twin brother Mohammed was slightly injured in the attack and has already been released.

Noor’s father, Abdallah Al Moussawi, told me that his children were born after 10 years of IVF treatment. As he stood at her bedside, he railed against the international community and Israel.

“I am not Hezbollah,” he shouts. “And my daughter is just a kid who was playing outside.”
