Man completes 48-hour walk around Wolves’ Molineux

A man completed a 48-hour walk without sleep on a football pitch to raise money for a dementia charity.

Manny Singh Khan shot people from local schoolchildren to rock star Robert Plant on some of his laps around Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Molineux stadium.

“It was sensational,” Mr Singh Khan said in a video about public participation posted on his Facebook page.

He has raised more than £260,000 for Dementia UK in recent years with sponsored walks and marathons and by serving samosas at Wolves games.

The 51-year-old completed his final challenge on Saturday afternoon and persevered despite heavy rain Last week there was flooding in the West Midlands.

“I had my umbrella on my shoulder for almost 12 hours,” he said in his video statement, referring to a night of heavy rain.

Led Zeppelin singer Plant, a long-time Wolves fan, showed up to show his support

He added that during the two-day challenge, some people rode with him for one lap, while others stayed for three or four hours. Strangers also brought him cups of tea and chocolate to keep him happy.

Led Zeppelin singer Plant, who grew up in the Black Country and is a long-time Wolves fan, also made an appearance to show his support.

Mr Singh Khan posted on Facebook that his walk had raised £20,000 by Sunday evening.

Previous Dementia UK fundraising challenges include: Run 125 miles (201 km) from Molineux to Stamford Bridge in Chelsea in 2022.

Earlier this year he walked 192 miles (308.99 km) from Wolverhampton to St. James’ Park in Newcastle.

He has also run the London Marathon four times for the charity and serves samosas at Wolves home games for donations.
