Leaked screenshots from The Sims Project Rene are already infuriating fans

New screenshots for “The Sims Project Rene” have leaked via a “small playtest,” and so far fans have not responded positively.

Before EA confirmed that Project Rene is not The Sims 5 and that it will feature multiplayer mode, several leaks about the game were already circulating in the community, giving players an idea of what it might have to offer – an example is the map leak.

Now, new images from EA’s ongoing project have surfaced, showing off all sorts of elements of the game, ranging from the interface, characters, outfits, gameplay, and so on.

According to the leaker who shared these images, the game hosted a “small playtest” that included a “simple live mode” section.

One thing that immediately stands out is, of course, the graphics – which the leaker said looked “real” “grainy”.

However, they made it clear that they won’t push it too hard as “optimization is usually the final phase of game development and it’s clear they chose performance over visual clarity.”

In these images, it looks like Sims already have preferences and can complete a “to-do list” to receive rewards. Various tasks appear in this list, such as: E.g. meeting new people, buying an outfit, etc.

As for the cosmetic options, it looks like the outfits will be obtainable by purchasing them with in-game currency, provided that each outfit has its own price as seen in the screenshots.

The leaker explained that this playtest “focused exclusively on a very small portion of the overall game” as some features were missing. Although this is the case, players have already expressed their frustration following this revelation, as seen in a Reddit thread.

One user compared it to The Sims Mobile, claiming it was “the same thing, just with fewer features.” They added: “You can work in a cafe and buy new outfits. It seems like it will be pretty much the same setup, just maybe a little different.”

Meanwhile, one user said: “I know it’s early but this is going to be a mess soon. “It looks and sounds terrible and reminds me of the Sims mobile game.”

“I love The Sims but what the hell kind of abomination is this?” commented one user.

Given that these are still leaks, you should take the information with a grain of salt for now. However, if you want a chance to jump into Project Rene yourself and see what it’s like, you can do so by signing up for the playtest.
