Day 2 of South Star was canceled due to “severe deterioration of the terrain.”

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – The South Star Music Festival kicked off Day 1 of the inaugural event Saturday afternoon at John Hunt Park.

However, festival officials say they have decided to cancel today’s festival because Saturday’s foot traffic from Hurricane Helene caused “significant deterioration of the site.”

After an inspection by festival organizers and city officials, it was determined that the site was no longer safe to welcome people back to the event.

Officials say safety is their top priority and have been looking forward to weekend-long celebrations since their announcement. For those who purchased tickets for Sunday, whether for one day or half day for two days, tickets purchased directly through Front Gate Tickets will be automatically refunded to your original form of payment in just 30 days.
