Lindsey Graham says Kamala Harris’ policies are ‘bats – not crazy’

Senator Lindsey Graham dismissed criticism of former President Donald Trump who called Vice President Kamala Harris “mentally impaired” – because he thought her policies were “completely crazy.”

“I just think she’s crazy liberal. I don’t question them [mental faculties]” Graham (R-SC) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” when asked about Trump’s rhetoric the previous day at a rally.

“I just think the better way is to pursue the case that their policies are destroying the country. They’re crazy liberals,” he said, before rattling off a list of political grievances.

“I’m not saying she’s crazy. I say your party and your politics are completely crazy.”

Graham also noted that Democrats have repeatedly made similar attacks on Trump in the past.

Lindsey Graham suggested that he would have preferred Donald Trump to use a different phrase to describe the vice president. AP

“They call him crazy. [Rep. Nancy] Pelosi wanted to invoke the 25th Amendment. Why don’t you ever talk about it?” Graham asked host Jake Tapper about the hypocrisy.

Trump, 78, called Harris, 59, “mentally disabled” at Saturday’s rally and criticized the Harris-Biden administration’s record on illegal immigration.

“Joe Biden was mentally disabled, Kamala was born that way. She was born like that,” he said flippantly. “And if you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could have allowed something like this to happen to our country.”

Harris hiked to the U.S.-Mexico border last Friday during a tour of Douglas, Arizona, marking her second such border visit, with the first taking place in El Paso, Texas, in June 2021.

Shortly before the vice president’s first visit to the border since 2021, new data from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement showed that over 425,431 non-citizens not in U.S. detention centers were convicted criminals, including 222,141 with pending charges.

Of this group, according to the data set, 13,099 were convicted of homicide, 62,231 of assault, 56,533 of drug offenses and 14,301 of burglary.

Specifically, this dataset refers to non-citizens who entered the country through any government and includes individuals incarcerated in prison.

Trump had bristled at Harris’ actions at the border, pointing to ICE’s data and claiming it was at the level of impeachment for “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

“If a Republican did what she did, that Republican would be impeached and removed from office. And rightly so in cases of serious crimes and misdemeanors,” he added in the speech.

Recently, the Trump-Vance campaign has criticized Democrats’ anti-Trump rhetoric, particularly politicians who have branded the 45th president a threat to democracy in light of the two high-profile assassination attempts against him.

Graham also commented on recent developments in the Middle East, including the Israeli attack in Beirut on Friday, in which Hezbollah later confirmed that its notorious longtime boss Hassan Nasrallah and other top leaders were killed.

“Nobody in Israel is even talking to the Biden administration. The Biden administration is paralyzed by fear of Iran. Under the guise of not escalating it, the world is burning,” Graham argued.

“I promise you, if Trump wins, we’ll fix this pretty quickly.”
