Ipswich 2-2 Aston Villa: What Kieran McKenna said

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna spoke to Sky Sports after today’s draw: “I thought we succeeded [make Aston Villa uncomfortable] for much of the game. They are a top team and used long range shots to score a lot of goals. We dominated and controlled the ball and created more than enough chances to win. It’s a good step for us.

“It’s not easy to create opportunities in the division. Aston Villa didn’t miss many great opportunities. Creating these opportunities showed that the boys are growing into it. The next step is to grab a few more. We’re showing that.” We’re a team that’s improving.

“Going four games unbeaten is not easy in the Premier League. It’s a fantastic first step and we still believe there is a lot to improve.”

About Liam Delap: “It was another good day for Liam Delap, he’s doing really well and getting a lot of recognition. But the team that was 2-1 down never lost its head and we were always competitive in the game.”

“I think a lot will happen [from Delap]I still don’t think he’s anywhere near the level of fitness he can be after a serious injury at the end of last season. The impact he has had, his all-round game and the fact that there is still so much growth left in him make us happy to have him here.
