Simone Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens surprises her on a gymnastics tour

Simone Biles got a special visitor on her Gold Over America Tour this weekend – and he’s already learning some new routines!

On Saturday, September 28, the 27-year-old Olympian revealed on her Instagram Stories that her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, paid her a visit while she was showcasing her talents as part of her ongoing gymnastics competition concert- experience across the whole country.

Before her performance on Saturday at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Biles uploaded a clip that appeared to show her and 29-year-old Owens holding hands. She then confirmed her husband’s surprise appearance when she shared another picture of the Chicago Bears player holding up a huge array of 26 heart-shaped roses while smiling at her.

“THE BEST SURPRISE,” she wrote over the picture. “ilysmf.”

In a follow-up clip, Owens was seen standing on some gymnastics mats with several other Olympians who took part in the national tour and performing choreography in front of his wife.

“Learning the tour dances,” Biles captioned the clip.

The 30-city Gold Over America Tour also features performances from the likes of Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Hezly Rivera, Fred Richard, Paul Juda and Brody Malone and officially kicked off September 16 in Oceanside, California.

Following the performance in Milwaukee on Saturday, September 28th, the event continues to Chicago – home of Owens’ NFL team – on Sunday, September 29th.

Owens’ Bears also play the Los Angeles Rams during a home game on Sunday, September 29, marking a big day in Chicago for the athletic couple.

Earlier this month, Biles told PEOPLE that what she’s “most excited about is that fans on the tour will be able to see the best of both worlds,” since the tour will feature “men’s and women’s gymnastics in one arena at the exact same time and share the same thing.” Floor.”

The 11-time Olympic medalist continued to show her support for her husband during his final NFL season. On September 8, she shared her candid reaction when Owens scored his first touchdown since joining the Chicago Bears, which came during his team’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Owens also supported his wife during her Olympic trip to Paris this summer, taking a few days off during his preseason training to watch her compete. As he told PEOPLE in July, it was “super exciting” for him to see Biles play at the highest level.

“It’s super exciting just because I get the chance to see all the work that she does before and you know what? Everything she goes through, dealing with the media and everything, and she still goes out and does it,” he said.

“It’s just impressive and a reflection of their training mentality and consistency,” Owens added. “The most important thing is how consistent it is.”
