NFL DFS Picks: Wide Receiver to Target in Week 4 (2024)

Welcome to Week 4 WR Matchups to Target. We have correctly predicted three home run picks (3x multiplier on DraftKings salary) so far this season. We will try to increase this amount this week.

Each week we will use matchup data from PFF to determine the wide receivers we want to target based on who they will primarily be facing that week. These are players who are more likely to return a 3x multiplier on their DraftKings salary, a measure of consistent winning in DFS cash games.

Below are five of the best WR vs. CB matchups for this week’s DFS main roster. Use these to set season-long lineups, select player props, and gain an advantage in DFS.

$7,300 on DraftKings, $8,500 on FanDuel; against Ja’Sir Taylor

Rashee Rice has quickly become a true WR1 for the Chiefs. Despite an uncharacteristically slow start from QB Patrick Mahomes, the second-year pass catcher enters Week 4 ranked second among receivers in PPR rating while leading the league in receptions.

Rice and the Chiefs face a beatable Chargers secondary that has the sixth-most adjusted yards per target and the most yards after catch in the league since last season. According to PFF’s Strength of Schedule metric, they are the 13th best matchup for opposing receivers.

Rice has primarily opted for the slot this year, where he will face CB Ja’Sir Taylor in a matchup with an excellent matchup advantage of 86.4 per PFF. The Chiefs receiver is the seventh-highest pass-catcher on the DK main roster despite WR1 upside. Start Rice with confidence.

$6,300 on DraftKings, $6,400 on FanDuel; against Jack Jones

The 1-2 Browns got off to a slow start to the year on offense, with QB Deshaun Watson picking up where he left off after an uninspiring 2023 season. This pick is more about the matchup and opportunity than anything else.

The Browns travel to Las Vegas this week in the fourth-best PFF matchup for receivers. Antonio Pierce’s team has given up the fifth-highest adjusted completion percentage to opposing receivers and ranks 29th in limiting yards after the catch.

Cooper is on the outside 81% of the time and will see about the same amount of time against CBs Jack Jones and Jakorian Bennett. PFF predicts a particularly lucrative mismatch when Cooper faces Bennett, giving Cooper a 91.8 matchup advantage.

The Raiders have fielded top-eight man coverage so far. Cooper has performed well against the man this year, posting a 27.1% target percentage against this coverage. Target Cooper as a contrarian pick in DFS this week.

$6,000 on DraftKings, $6,300 on FanDuel; against Byron Murphy

Don’t look now, but the Packers could have their number one receiver in Jayden Reed. The second-year receiver has led his team in yardage since last year and currently ranks eighth in touch rate (13.0%) among receivers with at least 10 touches in 2024. Reed leads the way Catch all starting receivers in both yards per reception (11.4) and yards per route run (3.69).

Next up, the Packers face the Vikings, who have surprised many with a 3-0 start and an improved defense eager to attack the quarterback. Reed comes alive against the Lightning — he had targets on three of Love’s five pressured pass attempts in Week 1, catching two of them for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Reed will primarily face CB Byron Murphy Jr., one of the NFL’s worst slot corners in coverage (41.6 PFF coverage grade). He has the best matchup on the field in this game and is a great price as the 22nd most expensive WR on the DraftKings main roster. Reed is a great GPP pick for DFS this week.

$5,600 on DraftKings, $6,200 on FanDuel; against Cam Taylor-Britt

Johnson came alive last week with Andy Dalton under center, catching 8 of his 14 targets (including 7 downfield targets) for 122 yards and a touchdown. He was by far Dalton’s favorite receiver, achieving a target percentage of 37.8% and an air yards percentage of 63.2%.

Johnson and the Panthers have a matchup this week with the Bengals, who just gave up 38 points to the Commanders on Monday night. This game is also expected to have a high score with an over/under rating of 47.5.

With the Panthers without WR Adam Thielen for the foreseeable future, Johnson should continue to have a secure base in cash games as Carolina’s top target.

$5,800 on DraftKings, $6,500 on FanDuel; against Sean Murphy Bunting

One of the NFL’s most underrated receivers for years, McLaurin is finally making a splash with QB Jayden Daniels under center. However, sportsbooks have not yet rated him accordingly in DFS, nor did the WR24 in DraftKings in Week 4.

McLaurin and the Commanders’ pass catchers have the league’s second-best matchup this week against the Cardinals, who rank in the bottom three in the NFL in PFF team coverage, defensive success rate and first down/touchdown rate allowed.

The veteran leads the league in air yards percentage with 56.4%. McLaurin’s outside tackle against CB Sean Murphy-Bunting should allow for more explosive plays and give the receiver a high ceiling in Week 4.
