Here’s how to watch the Vance-Walz vice presidential debate without cable

Republican Ohio Senator JD Vance and Tim Walz, the Democratic governor of Minnesota, prepare to meet for the first and only vice presidential debate on Tuesday. The event will take place in New York City at the CBS Broadcast Center and will be hosted by CBS News.

CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell will co-host with chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan, current host of Face the Nation.

The debate between the vice presidential contenders comes three weeks after the Harris-Trump debate, which drew 67 million viewers. The event lasts 90 minutes and includes two commercial breaks. As with the presidential debate in September, there will be no audience in the studio for the duel between Vance and Walz. The two will not give an opening speech, but will be given two minutes for the closing speech.

According to CBS News, each candidate will be given two minutes to answer each question and their opponent will have two minutes to respond. Both men will be allowed an additional one-minute rebuttal, with the moderators potentially being given an additional minute to provide further insight. CBS News may mute the microphones at any time during the debate.

Vance and Walz will not receive the questions or topics in advance. Props or pre-written notes are not permitted. Candidates will be provided with a pen, a pad of paper and a water bottle.

CBS will broadcast the event and viewers can watch it both on the network and on Paramount Plus. But read on to find out how to watch the event for free and where else you can stream it online.
